MEET TIM AND SARAH
Victorian athletes Tim and Sarah Chaplin are just two of the many athletes with an intellectual disability selected to compete at the National Games.
The brother and sister duo have been involved in Special Olympics for seven years and Tim will compete in athletics while his little sister Sarah will give it her all in tenpin bowling.
Mother and proud supporter, Julie Chaplin, said she can’t wait to see her children compete and do what they love. 'Special Olympics has given both Tim and Sarah so much more confidence, teaching them to do the very best they can in training and competition. They’re really excited about meeting up with old friends and making new ones,' she said.
Tim and Sarah both attended the official launch of the Games with the Premier last Thursday.
We’re very excited to announce National Games ambassador, Carrie Bickmore, will be our official MC for the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
If you are in Melbourne on 19 October 2014 head down to Federation Square to see the Torch Run and hopefully you can also join us at the National Games Opening Ceremony the next day.
Hawthorn Football player, Isaac Smith, with Special Olympics athletes Skye Cameron, Sarah Chaplin and Tim Chaplin and SEDA students Josie Gonzalez, Laura Breen and Jessie Hare.
