COMPETITION VENUE

Lakeside Stadium  - 31-33 Aughtie Drive, Albert Park 3206

An international standard athletics competition facilities includes an IAAF approved synthetic eight-lane running track with 10-lane front straight, a warm-up area with six-lane 60 metre track, jumps facilities and throws area, two long jump pits and two shot put fans.  Competition facilities including photo-finish equipment.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS ATHLETICS FACTS & RULES

The sport of athletics encourages athletes of all abilities and ages to compete at their optimum level. Through the track-and-field-based athletics training program, participants can develop total fitness to compete in any sport. As with all Special Olympics sports, athletics offers athletes the opportunity to learn through skill development and competitive settings and to be involved in large social settings.
