October 2014 will see Australia’s Sporting Capital, Melbourne host more than 900 athletes with intellectual disabilities as they compete in a spirit of togetherness across 16 sports at the 10th Special Olympics National Games.

From the moment they arrive in Melbourne, athletes, carers and volunteers will encounter a world-class sporting event that celebrates diversity, recognises achievements and showcases remarkable talent.

Approximately 900 volunteer Game Changers will be engaged to make the event one that is both memorable and rewarding for all involved.  Volunteer positions will be available in the following areas:

  • Family and Siblings
  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Logistics and Support Services
  • Marketing and Media
  • Medical and Welfare Services
  • Special Events
  • Spectator Services
  • Sports and Competition
  • Team Liaison and Support
  • Volunteer Liaison and Support

Every volunteer Game Changer will be filling a vital role as together the team aim to deliver a truly remarkable event!

To join us in a Game Changing role, volunteers must:

•    Complete an online application process 
•    Be at least 16 years of age by 19 October 2014
•    Complete a minimum of three volunteer shifts during the games duration.  Shift needs will vary amongst the many roles however most will be approximately six hours in duration
•    Undertake all mandatory training and orientation requirements as designated by the relevant Games Manager

Some volunteer positions may require additional pre-engagement screening including a Working with Children Check and/or a National Criminal History Check.  These requirements will be communicated as part of the application process.
